Design pitch

During: Spring 2014

My role: Art Director

A pitch for a redesign project of Destination Sigtuna. We wanted to site to look much more inspiring than it does today. To be able to show that Sigtuna is a beautiful city with lot's of activities for all type's of people. 

The most important thing with this new design of Destination Sigtuna was to highlight the upcoming events in the city. The other second thing was to lift the offers and make them as native so that the visitor will not be disturbed by the advertising.

Destination Sigtuna has four other sections: Move here, The festival of litterature, Study here and Sustainability. These sections should use the same framework of the site. The only thing that changes with the different sections is the top navigation which is the red one at Destination Sigtuna. The different sections gets its own color that is visible under the "see also". The reason why it should be the same layout on the different sites is that everything is connected together under the same organisation and it is intended that they should link to each other back and forth.

Because of the connection between the five different sites we saw a need of extend and color palette with more colors, so that every section could get it's own color.

The old typography felt a bit out dated, we wanted to use two more modern typefaces for the redesign. We chose Brandon Grotesque as sans-serif and Domine as serif. Both of these typefaces are designed for the web and therefore easy to read on screen and they are also very popular right now.
